1 cup of cornmeal
1 cup all-purpose flour
2 tbs sugar
2 tsp baking powder
1/2 tsp salt
1 egg
2 tbs vegetable oil
1-1/3 cup butter milk
8 Hot-dogs, I like Nathan's Beef.
Oil for frying
Popsicle sticks (Craft store)
- Add oil to a skillet. Turn on burner. While it is heating, proceed to making the batter.
Batter
- Combine the cornmeal, flour, sugar, salt and baking powder.
- Whisk in the egg.
- Add 2 tbs vegetable oil.
- Add buttermilk. and whisk until smooth.
- Set aside
Hot Dogs
- Skewer the sticks into the hot-dogs, making sure you leave some on the outside for a handle.
- Pour the batter into a tall drinking glass (I saw this in another video)
- Dip the hot-dog into the batter.
- Put it into the hot oil. Fry until a pretty golden brown. Flip and repeat unti all sides are cooked an a nice golden color. (3-4 minutes)
- When finished, placed on a paper-towel line plate to drain the excess grease.
