Scones
4 cups flour, all-purpose
1/2 cup sugar
1 cup butter, cold and cut into cubes
1/2 tsp salt
1 tbs baking powder
1 tsp baking sat
1/2 cup toasted walnuts
1-1/3 cup buttermilk
1 tsp vanilla
Maple Glaze
1/4 cup maple syrup
1 cup confectioners sugar
- Preheat oven to 400◦
- Line a baking sheet with parchment paper. Set aside.
- Place all the dry ingredients except the walnuts in a blender or food processor. Pulse to mix.
- Add the butter. Process until there are no chunks of butter left and the mixture resembles moist crumbs. Pour this mixture into a bowl.
- Fold in walnuts. Stir in buttermilk and vanilla. Mix until the dough is thoroughly formed.
- On a lightly floured surface and pat into a 10-inch circle.
- Cut into 10 wedges and place on a baking sheet.
- Bake for 20-25 minutes.
- Allow to cool on a wire rack.
- To make the glaze combine the maple syrup and xxx sugar. Drizzle over the scones while they are still a bit warm.
