1/2 cup butter, room temperature3/4 cup dark brown sugar, packed
1/3 cup molasses
1 large egg
2 tbs water
2-2/3 cup flour
1/2 tsp salt
1 tsp baking soda
2 tsp ginger, ground
1/2 tsp cinnamon, ground
1/2 tsp nutmeg, ground
1/2 tsp allspice, ground
- Cream butter and brown sugar until it is fluffy & light.
- Add the molasses, water & egg.
- In a separate bowl, whisk together the remaining ingredients. Add to the above mixture.
- Mix well. Divide the dough in half, wrap in plastic and refrigerate for about 30 minutes.
- Preheat oven to 350 degrees.
- On a floured surface, roll out dough and cut with a gingerbread man shaped cookie cutter.
- Bake for 8-10 minutes.
- Allow to cool.
- Decorate as desired.
