Chocolate Peppermint Cake

1 cup sugar
1/2 cup butter
4 eggs
16 oz chocolate syrup
1 cup flour
1-1/2 teaspoon baking power
1 teaspoon vanilla
1/2 teaspoon salt

1 cup sugar
1/2 cup butter
1 cup chocolate chips
1/2 cup milk
1 teaspoon vanilla
1 teaspoon peppermint extract

  •  Preheat oven to 350 ◦  
  • Cake: In a mixing bowl, combine the butter, sugar syrup and eggs. 
  • Beat until fluffy.
  • Add the salt, baking powder, vanilla and flour. Mix again.
  • Pour into a greased & floured 9 x 13 pan.
  • Bake for 25-30 minutes.
  • About 7 minutes before cake is ready to come out of over prepare the frosting.
  • In a saucepan, heat butter and sugar over medium heat, bring to a boils and stir for 2 minutes. (Don't over cook)
  • Remove from heat and add the vanilla, chocolate chips and peppermint extract.  stir until chips are melted and smooth.
  • Pour over the cake whil both are still hot.
  • Best if stored at room temerature.
