
4 cups flour
1 teaspoon baking powder
3/4 cup shortening
1/2 cup brown sugar
1 egg, beaten
Milk (enough to make a ball of dough)
Seasonings of your choice (I plan to try onion or garlic powder, ranch dip salad dressing packet, popcorn cheese seasoning)
- Preheat oven to 375°
- Combine all ingredients except for milk and seasonings. Mix well.
- Add enough milk to take a ball of dough.
- Roll out dough on a well-floured board as thin as possible.
- Sprinkle desired seasoning on dough.
- Cut into squares or use tiny cookie cutters for shapes.
- Prick with a fork.
- Bake on heated cookied sheet for 10 minutes or until ligtly brown and toasted.
I have not yet made these, but my daughter has. She said they were not as crisp and uniform as store-bought but they were still good. She served them to her husband with chicken salad. She got this recipe out of an Amish Cookbook.
