This past week I've noticed that my dishrags and dish towels have a sour smell to them. It's been pretty hot and humid lately. I've read up on this and found out that this is the result of built-up resides left over from laundry detergent and fabric softeners. It makes are laundry less absorbent.

The solution is 1 cup of white vinegar, 1/2 cup of baking soda and some very hot water.

Start by putting your towels/dishrags etc...  into the washing machine and fill with hot water. The hotter the better. You may even consider boiling some water on the stove and adding that to the load.
Add 1 cup of vinegar to the load and run through an entire wash cycle.
When finished, leave them in there, you're now going to run it through another cycle but this time you will be adding the 1/2 cup of baking soda.
When done, take out of washer and either dry it in the dryer or dry in on a clothes line.

Before folding and putting away, make sure they are 100% dry.
