In a welcoming, comfortable home, beauty is not optional. It is a necessity of our spirit; the same as food and clothing are to our bodies.

You may not be able to fill your home with expensive fine art, but you can easily turn it into a place of beauty. Everything in your home should make you smile.

Beauty is easy to invite into your home. Beauty comes in many forms. It can be as simple as a hand-stitched wall hanging, a shelf lined with pretty paper and trimmed in lace, or a vase filled with beautiful flowers picked from your garden. Even that handful of dandelions that your grand-baby picked for you can be made beautiful if placed in a pretty jar, with a ribbon tied around it

How do you define beauty? What is it that brings a smile to your face? The answer to these is what you need to surround yourself with. Then share that beauty with  all those who come over to visit you.

As you surround yourself with pretty things, you will be creating something truly beautiful! A lovely home adorned for those you love the most! Your family. What a great way to serve those than mean so much to us.

  1. You are so right...we can surround ourselves with beautiful things in any situation, mostly by our attitudes. I've lived in over 40 different homes--trailers, tiny apartments, huge houses, and sometimes our budget was pretty small. It's amazing how a colorful dish towel or old scarf can add some beauty to a room.

  2. I definitely agree! I think it is very important to do this. I recently saw a quote that said do not have anything in your home that you do not believe to be beautiful or useful. I love to surround myself with my favorite items and often keep fresh flowers in the house to be surrounded with beauty.

  3. I have been buying manager special flowers from the grocery store whenever we go, and drying them. I have learned some flowers keep better than others, and that the greenery that you add to roses are worth getting; they smell so good! Dried flowers add such beauty to your home.

I've bought some small wall hangings of pretty art, or cross stitchings.

    Books surround my area.

I have an eclectic style, but it all seems to tie together, and leaves me feeling cozy.

Granted, this is all in my room, however I figure this is good practice for my future home. ;)
