Chocolate Caramel Candybutterscotch

This is an award-winning recipe that has won 5 ribbons! It has been said to taste a bit like a Snickers bar, but its homemade flavor is beyond comparison. 
I got the original recipe (and above photo) from the taste of home website, but I altered it a bit.

1 cup of milk chocolate chips
1/4 cup butterscotch chips
1/4 cup creamy peanut butter
2 teaspoons butter

Filling Layer
1 cup sugar
1/4 cup butter
1-1/2 cup marshmallow creme
1/4 cup evaporated milk
1/4 cup creamy peanut butter
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
2 cups salted, honey roasted peanuts, finely chopped

Caramel Layer
14 oz pkg of caramels
1/4 cup heavy whipping cream

1/4 cup butterscotch chips
1/4 cup creamy peanut butter
1 cup of milk chocolate chips

  • Line a 9 x 13 pan with alum foil. Grease with butter.
  • Put the chocolate chips, peanut butter and butterscotch chips in a small saucepan.Turn heat on a low-heat setting and melt the ingredients until smooth. Spread into the above pan. Refrigerate until set.
  • Next, we'll work on the filling.....get out that saucepan again put the burner on a medium setting and melt the butter. Add the milk and sugar. Bring this to a gentle boil. Reduce the heat to medium-low and continue to stir for 5 minutes.
  • Remove from the heat. Stir in the marshmallow creme, peanut butter and vanilla. Mix well.Fold in peanuts and stir thoroughly Pour this over the 1st layer.
  • Now we come to my favorite layer....the caramel one! Get out the saucepan, yet again! Add to it the caramels and cream. Stir over low heat until the candy has melted and is smooth.Cook and stir continually for 4 minutes. Spread this over the previous layer. Refrigerate until set.
  • This last step also involves the saucepan. Add to it all the icing ingredients and stir over low heat until melted and smooth, Pour this over the caramel layer. Refrigerate over night or a minimum of four hours.
  • Cut into 1" pieces......Enjoy!
