Apple Pie # 1

Prepare Pie Crust

  • Preheat oven to 350° 
  • 6-8 stayman or winesap apples (my favorite, you can use whatever type you prefer) peel, core, and slice these. Put these in the uncooked pie crust.
In a separate bowl mix together:

4 tablespoons cornstarch
1 cup sugar
2 teaspoons cinnamon
  • Sprinkle the above mixture over the apples.
  • Put a few slabs of cold butter over top of this. (I use 1-2 tablespoons)
  • Put on the top pie crust.
  • Cover the edges of pie crust with alum. foil to prevent burning.
  • Bake for 30 minutes.
  • Remove foil
  • Bake another 20-25 minutes.
