Banana Pudding

I like to refer to this as my signature dessert. I get many request to bring this to potlucks. I can't take credit for it though! I didn't come up with the dessert, it's just a matter of finding a great recipe. I'm not sure when or where I got it. I've had it for a looooong time. I cut it off something. Perhaps off the sweetened condensed milk, because it has a picture of that on the recipe.

1-14 oz can of sweetened condensed milk.
1-1/2 cups cold water
1 (4 oz serving) instant vanilla pudding mix
2 cups (1 pint) heavy whipping cream, whipped
box of vanilla wafers
2 bananas, sliced and placed in a bowl.
lemon (squeeze out the juice, and put in bowl with banana's to keep them from discoloring.

I always double this recipe when I make it, and put it in an attractive glass bowl.
  • Combine sweetened condensed mil and water. Add pudding and beat well.
  • Chill for 5-10 minutes.
  • Fold in whipping cream
  • Layer in this order: Cookie, banana's, and then pudding mixture. (Make sure you put enough cookies aside for the top...The bowl I use requires 36 cookies)
  • Repeat, ending with cookies for the top
* This dessert is best made in the morning and served that same day. The banana's don't hold out well if made the day before.
