Easy Apple Dumplings

One 8 count tube of large biscuits (I like Pillsbury Grands Biscuits)
8 small apples peeled & cored .
8 teaspoons brown sugar (one per apple)
8 teaspoons of butter
sprinkle of cinnamon
Sprinkle of nutmeg

Topping
1/2 cup of melted butter
3/4 cup white granulated sugar
1/8 cup water
1/2 teaspoon cinnamon
1/2 teaspoon nutmeg
1 tsp vanilla

Combine, stir until mixed well.....set asude

Preheat oven to 350 degrees
Grease baking pan, set aside
Using your hand, roll out one biscuit until it is large enough to cover the apple
Put one teaspoon of brown sugar in the apple core
Sprinkle with cinnamon and nutmeg
Top with butter
Wrap in biscuit, seam side down.
Place in a baking pan.
Repeat with remaining ingredients
Pour topping over apple dumplings
Bake 35-40 minutes

* Tips

I sometimes find it easier to peel and then quarter the apples to remove core.

We have an apple peeler & core machine that can do the peeling and coring for you. We use it mostly when canning.
