How To do Laundry - When Your Electricity Is Out
I think it's a good idea to have a back-up in the event of an emergency. In 2013, a weather related instance caused our electricity to be out for 9 days! So knowing how to do laundry when your electricity is out would be essential. After all, we all need clean undies!
Here is an outline of this video:
Supplies needed:
5 Gallon Bucket
Drill
Plunger
Step 1
Cut a hole in the center of the bucket. The hole only needs to be big enough for the plunger handle to fit.Step 2
Drill 8 small holes in the plunger. Don't skip this step. with out the hole, it won't agitate properly.Step 3
Time to wash clothes. Fill the bucket with water, detergent and your dirty laundry. Put plunger handle in the hole and secure with lid. He recommends working the plunger around for 2-4 minutes, but I'd rather do it for a bit longer, perhaps 5-8 minutes. I think young children might get a kick out of this, I'd let them work the plunger.Step 4
Time for the rinse cycle. Pour out soapy water. Add fresh clean water. Repeat by working the plunger. Pour out water. Now you're going to have to wring these out by hand. Hang out on the clothes-line to dry. So knowing how to do laundry when your electricity is out, will be one less thing to worry about. This Post contains Ads
