1 yellow cake mix, moist
1/2 cup butter, melted
1 egg
1/3 cup oatmeal (quick or old-fashion)
2 teaspoon cinnamon, ground
1 tbs lemon juice
1-14oz can sweetened condensed milk
4 cups of apples, preferably Granny smith - diced and peeled
1 jar of caramel ice cream topping
- Preheat oven to 350◦
- Grease & flour a 9 x 13 pan
- In a mixing bowl combine the cake mix, butter and eggs. Beat until a dough has formed.
- Press 1-1/4 cup of the dough into the bottom of the pan.
- Blend oats and 1 teaspoon of the cinnamon into the remaining dough to form a crumb mixture. set aside.
- In a large bowl, combine the sweetened condensed milk, lemon juice and remaining cinnamon. Mix well. Add apples and stir until well coated.
- Using a slotted spoon, spoon the apples evenly over the crust. Drizzle the remaining liquid from the apples over the crust.
- Evenly sprinkle the crumb mixture on top. Press down gently to compact the layers.
- Bake for 40-45 minutes until the top is golden brown and the apples are tender.
- When completely cool, cut into squares.
- When ready to serve, drizzle with caramel topping.
