Molasses Cookies



1-1/2 cup flour
1 cup sugar
1 teaspoon baking soda
1 teaspoon ginger
1/2 teaspoon cloves
1/2 teaspoon salt
1/2 cup melted shortening
1 egg
1/4 cup molasses
3/4 cup rolled oats


  1. Preheat oven to 375◦
  2. Combine all the above ingredients
  3. Drop by tablespoons on a greased cookie sheet.
  4. Flatten with a glass that has been dropped in water and then with sugar.
  5. Bake for 12 minutes.
