Give this award winning cookie a try! I'm not sure who gave the award, as it is torn out of an unknown magazine! I've been collecting recipes for 20 + years and this was among my collection.
1/2 cup butter
1/2 cup almond butter
1/3 cup granulated sugar + 3 Tablespoons
1/2 cup brown sugar
3/4 teaspoon baking soda
1/2 teaspoon cream of tartar
1/4 teaspoon salt
1 egg
2 tablespoons milk
1/2 teaspoon vanilla
1 cup whole wheat flour
1 cup all-purpose flour
2 tablespoons finely ground almonds
60 milk chocolate kisses with almonds
- Preheat oven to 350 ◦
- In a mixing bowl combine the butter, almond butter and 1/2 cup of the granulated sugar, brown sugar, baking soda, cream of tartar and salt. Beat until fluffy.
- Beat in the egg, milk & vanilla. Mix well.
- Beat in the whole wheat flour and all purpost flour.
- In a shallow dish, combine the ground almonds and the additional 3 tablespoons of granulated sugar.
- shape the dough into 1" balls. Roll in the almond/sugar mixture.
- Place 2" apart on an ungreased cookie sheet.
- Bake for 8-10 minutes or until firm to the touch.
- Place a chocolate kiss on top of the cook, as soon as it is removed from the oven.
- Cool on a wire rack.
* Will make appox. 4 dozen cookies
