Thumbprint Cookies



1/2 cup Crisco
1 egg yolk (reserve egg white)
1 cup flour
1/4 cup brown sugar
1/2 teaspoon vanilla
1/4 teaspoon salt
1 cup Jam
Finely chopped nuts (for rolling cookie dough into)
  • Preheat oven to 350°
  • Combine all ingredients except for jam and nuts. Mix well.
  • Roll into 1″ rolls.
  • Dip in beaten egg whit e & then roll into finely chopped nuts.
  • Bake for 5 minutes.
  • Remove from oven, press thumb on top of each cookie.
  • Put 1 teaspoon of jam into thumbprint.
  • Bake an additional 8 minutes.
