Swiss-Style Green Bean Casserole




Looking for something a wee-bit different from the traditional green-bean casserole with french-fried onions, try this unique tasty Swiss-Style Green bean Casserole made with Swiss-cheese and topped with a layer of crushed cornflakes.

Looking for something a wee-bit different from the traditional green-bean casserole with french-fried onions, try this unique tasty Swiss-Style Green bean Casserole made with Swiss-cheese and topped with a layer of crushed cornflakes.
Ingredients
  • 4 cups green beans, cooked & drained
  • 4 tablespoon butter
  • 1 cup sour cream
  • 4 oz (1/2 cup) Swiss cheese, shredded or grated
  • 2 cups cornflakes, crushed
  • 1/4 teaspoon onion powder
  • Salt & Pepper to taste
  • 1/8 cup (2 T.) flour
Instructions
  1. Melt butter in a skillet.
  2. Add 2 tablespoons of the melted butter to the crushed cornflakes. Mix well.
  3. Add the onion powder, flour, salt & pepper to the remaining butter in the skillet. Stir until thickened.
  4. Add sour cream. Simmer until the sauce is thickened.
  5. Place the green-beans in a casserole dish.
  6. Pour the sour cream mixture over the green-beans.
  7. Sprinkle with the Swiss cheese.
  8. Top with the corn flakes.
