Steak & Noodle Casserole





  • 1 5 oz pkg med-size noodles, cooked according to package instructions
    1 medium onion, chopped
    1 green pepper, chopped
    2 tablespoons butter
    1-1/2 lb round steak, cut into bite-size pieces
    1 teaspoon salt
    1/2 teaspoon freshly ground pepper
    4 oz sliced mushrooms
    1/2 cup milk
    1 can cream of mushroom soup
    1-1/4 cups cheddar cheese, grated

  • Preheat oven to 375°
  • In a skillet over med-high heat brown onions, green peppers and beef in the butter until the beef is nicely browned on both sides.
  • Add mushrooms. Put a lid on the skillet, set the heat on low and simmer for 15 minutes.
  • Combine noodles, meat, milk, soup, salt & pepper and 3/4 cup of cheese. Mix well.
  • Pour into a buttered casserole dish.
  • Cover dish, and bake for 45 minutes.
  • Remove cover, sprinkle the remainder of the cheese on the casserole and bake for 15 minutes.
