Shortbread Brownies

1 box of fudge brownie mix
2 cups flour
1/2 cup sugar
1 cup butter, keep refrigerated until ready to use
1/2 cup of mini chocolate chips
1 cup walnuts (1/2 cup for the brownies & 1/2 cup to sprinkle on top)
  • Preheat oven to 350 °
  • In a mixing bowl; Combine flour and sugar.
  • Using a pastry blender or a fork cut in cold butter until crumbly.
  • Press this in the bottom of a greased 13 x 9 pan.
  • Bake for 15-20 minutes or until a light golden brown.
  • Remove from oven and set aside.
  • Prepare of brownie mix according to package instructions; spread over the shortbread crust.
  • Bake 20-30 minutes or until a toothpick inserted comes out clean.
  • Frost with chocolate frosting
Chocolate Frosting
Combine and beat until light & fluffy.
1/2 cup of butter
1/2 cup cocoa
1 teaspoon vanilla
1/3 cup milk
4-5 cups of powdered sugar.
  • Spread on top of cooled brownies and sprinkle with chopped walnuts.
