12 large red peppers
12 large green peppers or sweet banana peppers
24 large tomatoes
4 large onions
24 large tomatoes
4 large onions
- Grind above ingredients. Mix well. Set aside.
- In a large pot, add water. Bring to a boil…..while you’re waiting for the water to boil…..
- Combine, in another large pan. 2 cups of mustard, 6 cups of sugar, 2 cups of white vinegar, 6 teaspoons salt.
- Simmer the above mixture for 15 minutes. (Do not let this mixture boil) Set aside.
- While this is simmering, place grinded vegetables in a colander and pour the boiling water over them. Let them drain well.
- In a jar, add one cup of flour and a cup of cold water together. Shake well.
- Pour the flour mixture into the mixture in the saucepan. Stir until mixed well.
- Add to this pan the grinded vegetables. Cook for 10 minutes over medium heat. (Stir often so that it does not scorch.)
- Add 2 quarts of Hellman’s mayonnaise. (the original recipe calls for Miracle Whip – I’m not a fan of that, I prefer Hellman’s.)
- Bring to a boil.
- Pour into sterilized jars.
- Water bath for 45 minutes.
*This will make 8 quarts or 16 pints. I have not yet tried this, it was given to me by a lady at church. She states it is the best she ever had.
