Preparing for A Rainy Day (by couponing)

1960s Woman with Umbrella Holding Bags of Money Save Your Money for a Rainy Day

Unexpected financial situations happen to all of us. Now is the time to prepare for them.
One way we can plan to do this is by creating a stockpile of food.
Our dream has always been to have our root-cellar jam packed with a 1-2 year supply of canned goods.
After reading the book, Pick Another Checkout Lane, Honey: Learn Coupon Strategies to Save $1000s at the Grocery Store has made me even more determined to make this dream a reality.
I’ve learned that we can’t afford NOT to stockpile. The authors in the above book state that the only way to save the big bucks is to buy in large quantities when you have coupons and when it is on sale. They describe in greater detail how to do this so I won’t go into great detail on it. Other advantages to having a stockpile is that it allows you to cook what you want without having to run out to the store because you ran out of a needed ingredient. You have all the ingredients on hand because you’ve attained  perfectly stocked cupboard. It also offers you a peace of mind because you know that you are prepared for the future and that is one of the best feelings in the world.
