This recipe will need to be made the day before you plan to bake it, as it will need to sit over night.
1 lb ground sausage
Pat of butter to grease baking dish
5 slices of whole-grain bread, torn into pieces
1-1/2 cups shredded cheddar or colby cheese
9 large eggs
1-1/2 teaspoon mustard
3 cups skim milk
- Grease a 9" x 13" baking pan. Set aside.
- Brown the sausage in a skillet over med heat. Drain the fat.
- Spread the bread, cheese and sausage evenly in the pan.
- In a large bowl, beat the eggs wells.
- Add the mustard, salt and milk.
- Pour the mixture over the dry ingredients.
- Refrigerate overnight.
- The next morning............Preheat oven to 350◦
- Bake for 45-60 minutes. Allow to sit 5 minutes prior to serving.
* Since I don't eat pork, I plan to use turkey sausage, so the calories may be lower than what is listed.
