Meatball Sub Casserole






1/3 cup chopped green onions
1/4 cup seasoned bread crumbs
3 tablespoons grated Parmesan cheese
1 lb ground beef
1 loaf Italian bread, cut in 1" slices (use 1-pound loaf)
8 oz cream cheese, softened
1/3 cup mayonnaise
1 teaspoon Italian seasoning
1/4 teaspoon pepper
2 cups shredded Mozzarella cheese, divided
1 28 oz jar spaghetti sauce
1 cup water
1 clove garlic, minced

  • Preheat oven to 400°
  • In bowl, combine onions, bread crumbs, and Parmesan cheese.
  • Add ground beef; mix well.
  • Shape into 1" balls; place on rack in shallow baking pan. icon
  • Bake for 15-20 minutes or until no longer pink in the center.
  • Meanwhile, arrange bread in single layer in a 13x9x2 baking dish.
  • Combine cream cheese, mayonnaise, Italian seasoning and pepper in small dish; spread over bread.
  • Sprinkle with 1/2 cup Mozzarella cheese.
  • Combine spaghetti sauce, water, garlic and meatballs.
  • Pour over cheese mixture; sprinkle with remaining Mozzarella cheese.
Bake, uncovered at 350°  for 30 minutes
