Caramel N Chocolate Pecan Bars

Brown Sugar, butter, chocolate and pecans are baked into these unbelievable scrumptious bars.
Crust
2 cups flour
1 cup brown sugar, firmly packed
1 cup pecan halfs
Caramel Layer
1/2 cup butter, softened
1/2 cup brown sugar, firmly packed
Topping
1 cup semi-sweet chocolate chips

  • Preheat oven to 350 °
  • To make crust combine all ingredients except for pecans. Beat at medium speed until mixture resembles fine crumbs. Press onto the bottom of an ungreased 13 x 9 pan.
  • Place pecans evenly over the unbaked crust.
  • In a saucepan, combine the butter & brown sugar and cook over medium heat. When it begins to boil, continue to cook, stirring constantly for one minute.
  • Pour the above mixture evenly over the pecans and crust.
  • Bake for 18-22 minutes or until the caramel layer is bubbly.
  • DO NOT OVERBAKE
  • Remove from oven and intermediately sprinkle with the chocolate chips. Allow the chips to melt slightly. Swirl the melted chocolate over the bars leaving some area bare for a marbled effect.
  • When completely cool, cut into bars.
  • Store at room temperature in a loosely covered container.

  • *  You can vary this dessert by using different nuts or baking chips.
