Pretzel

2-1/2 cups lukewarm water2 Tablespoon yeast
1 teaspoon sugar
6-1/4 cup flour
  • Stir yeast into warm water.
  • Add sugar.
  • Slowly add flour.
  • Knead for 7-8 minutes.
  • Let dough rise is a greased bowl. Cover with a tea towel or wax paper.
  • Divide dough and shape into pretzel shapes.
  • Beat an egg, add a bit of water. Brush this on top of pretzels.
  • Sprinkle with coarse salt.
  • Bake at 350° for 15-20 minutes (until golden brown)
This is a recipe I've had since high school. I was in a Food Management class and we sold our baked good to classmates. Alot of people liked to eat this with a squirt of mustard.
