Apple Butter

16 cups of thick apple pulp
1 cup cider vinegar
8 cups sugar
4 teaspoons cinnamon
  • Core and slice apples. Place them in a large pan with a thick bottom. Place it on the stove.
  • Put in just enough water to cook apples until soft.
  • Add remaining ingredients.
  • Cook until mixture cooks down and very thick. (it will be dark brown in color) While cooking you will need to stir often to prevent burning.. Once it comes to a boil, reduce heat and simmer on low heat.
  • Pour into sterilized jar and cover with sterilized lids.
  • Waterbath for 10 minutes.
* I've also done this is a crock pot.
